Challenge
The new LOS40 app had to allow the user to listen to music on demand rather than in linear format and offer greater user interaction with the stations, allowing users to discover exclusive content, listen to all the programs again, and search for music, audio, artists and program content.
The new app had to be the user's meeting point with all the stations that make up the LOS40 family and all its Latin American stations. In addition, we had to achieve a fluid and agile integration without friction with the user's mobile music system (Spotify, Apple Music...).
Design Process
We tried to generate a music ecosystem with the available resources and seek a balance in which the recommendations made by Los40 programs and DJs would become a basic pillar. Therefore, the user could enjoy the music recommended by Los40 on other platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
First we built the wireframes of the entire application and produced a 100% functional document to align with technology. We then prototyped HI-FI, focusing on the station change component, which was not only agile and fluid but also visually reminiscent of traditional radio.
We interviewed 14 users in total, 5 with a digital profile, 5 Los40 listeners with an account on a music platform and 4 more fans of the station without the App installed. The objective was to evaluate the new App at a conceptual level as well as test the most critical flows and interactions to detect possible barriers and deliver a refined product.

This is a complete renovation of the application, with a new design and new features: such as the possibility of listening to the entire weekly list of LOS40 and voting for your favorite songs, selecting songs, playlists and other content as favourites.
New Features
The new LOS40 app offers greater user interaction with stations, allowing you to discover exclusive content, listen again to all programs and search for music, audio, artist and program content. The design winks at the interaction with the classic radio.
More customization and integration with other platforms
Another of the strengths of the new App is customization. The user can connect to their profile on the consumer platforms, Apple Music or Spotify, and enjoy unique playlists tailored to their preferences. LOS40 thus becomes the only radio station in Spain to offer a playlist with styles and themes created by the musical experts of LOS40. The user now has the ability to save playlists, podcasts, and songs to their profile, where they can also choose their own avatar. Also sync your music deck.
